(CHARLOTTE, NC. – June 9, 2016) After staging 800+ concerts and events while hosting over 750,000 guests since its 2009 inception, The Fillmore Charlotte is set to open The Underground this summer. Located at 820 Hamilton Street, just steps away from the Fillmore, The Underground will play host to national touring artists, local showcases, special events and other music-themed festivities.
The addition of a 750-capacity Live Nation venue at the AvidXchange Music Factory will provide a new tier of entertainment options and give local and touring bands a place to grow from small tours to huge outdoor shows all within the same complex. An emphasis on local art, local craft beers and a brand new outdoor veranda will highlight some of The Underground’s unique features, along with state of-the-art sound and lights synonymous with the Fillmore experience.
To celebrate this announcement, Fillmore staff will be giving away 500 free popsicles tonight (Thursday, June 9) in partnership with King of Pops. Fans can head to the Fillmore Box Office starting at 5pm to claim their free popsicles plus enter for a chance to win tickets to upcoming shows at The Fillmore and The Underground.
“The Underground promises to raise the bar for the Charlotte music scene. We are equally excited to have the opportunity to expand our team by creating more local jobs for those of us who are passionate about live music, entertainment and memorable events,” said Fillmore & The Underground General Manager, Gregg Coyle.
A diverse mix of programming will kick off The Underground’s summer lineup. Fans of the Tedeschi Trucks Band will have an opportunity to pre-party at The Underground with food trucks, music, a full bar and giveaways before their July 24 show at the neighboring amphitheater.
Charlotte’s active social community will have an early look at the new club with #InstabeerupCLT, a widely popular free networking event coming to The Underground July 28. This will be followed by a private Yelp event that will be open to Charlotte’s Yelper community this summer.
The Underground’s concert calendar opens Saturday, July 30 with a local showcase featuring Charlotte bands Fiftywatt Freight Train & Something Clever. This is followed by the club’s first national touring show with I Prevail on August 11.
Those interested in employment opportunities are encouraged to attend a job fair at The Fillmore Charlotte on Monday, June 27 from 3pm – 7pm. Open positions will include security, bar staff, door staff and more.
